The ‘clickable logo’ on this website is a mandatory requirement of our regulator, the Solicitors Regulation Authority. It contains embedded software taking you to an SRA-hosted page which confirms that we are regulated and outlines what protections this regulated status provides. The SRA has stated that it does not have access, record or store any additional data such as IP addresses or page navigation behaviour, and that it does not collect data that would identify an individual. A solicitor specialising in technology is reported as saying that the system’s design involves the processing of data by technology supplier Yoshki, and does not ask users to give their consent. Yoshki’s system is based in turn on technology developed by Google which, he says, ‘is in the business of harvesting personal data’. Hatch Legal does not accept liability for use of the SRA clickable logo.

Privacy Statement

User anonymity and personal information
Log files are maintained of all requests for files on this website's web servers. Log files do not capture personal information but do capture the user's IP address, which is automatically recognised by our web servers.

Aggregated analysis of these log files can be used to monitor website usage. These analyses may be made to available to our staff to allow them to measure, for example, overall popularity of the site and typical user paths through the site. Except as stated already, Hatch Legal will make no attempt to identify individual users. Access to Hatch Legal web pages will generally create log entries in the systems of our ISP or network service provider 1 & 1 Internet who may be in a position to identify the client computer equipment used to access a page. Such monitoring would be done by the provider of network services and is beyond our responsibility or in our control.

Hatch Legal will make no attempt to track or identify individual users, except where there is a reasonable suspicion that unauthorised access to systems is being attempted. In the case of all users, we reserve the right to attempt to identify and track any individual who is reasonably suspected of trying to gain unauthorised access to computer systems or resources operating as part of our web services.
As a condition of use of this site, all users must give permission for us to use its access logs to attempt to track users who are reasonably suspected of gaining, or attempting to gain, unauthorised access. No access to raw log files or log information is given to any third party.

Use of cookies
This website does not store any information that would, on its own, allow Hatch Legal to identify individual users of this service without their permission. Any cookies that may be used by this website are used either solely on a per session basis or to maintain user preferences. Cookies are not shared with any third parties.

Session cookie
The Hatch Legal site uses session cookies. A session cookie only lasts for the duration of users using the website. A web browser normally deletes session cookies when it quits.

Personalisation
Allowing users to log in to a website is a frequent use of cookies. Typically the web server will first send a cookie containing a unique session identifier. Users then submit their credentials and the web application authenticates the session and allows the user access to services. The Hatch Legal site uses this method to authenticated clients and registered users who have explicitly opted-in or registered to access various parts of the site or services offered by Hatch Legal that are not available to non subscribers or non registered users.

Tracking
Tracking cookies may be used to track internet users' web browsing habits via services such as Google and Piwik analytics and similar services. At this time the Hatch Legal site does not use analytics tracking cookies.
